Student Internship at Overseas – An Excellent Experience

Do you remember your first job and your first encounter with the labor market after graduating? For many, the first job meant the first real encounter with their profession—but not for students of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences. Their students complete 200 hours of professional practice during their undergraduate studies, and Vedrana and Andrija completed their internship at Overseas Express to gain insight into the rapidly growing courier and logistics industry.

Overseas Express continuously invests in employee development and education. However, cooperation with the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences has opened up entirely new opportunities to introduce future professionals to business operations, the market, internal processes, and the working environment, which has proven to be an excellent path toward building a strong and capable team. Students Vedrana and Andrija completed their professional practice at Overseas under the guidance of colleagues across all departments and processes essential for providing courier services—from operations organization, sales and marketing, and distribution network management, to customer support and the operation of the main distribution center in Zagreb, where shipments are organized, sorted, and prepared for distribution to 20 delivery centers. Vedrana Đukić is a third-year undergraduate student of the Traffic program, specializing in Postal Traffic, while Andrija Džalo is a third-year undergraduate student of Intelligent Transport Systems and Logistics, specializing in Logistics. Both agree that the internship they completed at Overseas Express was extremely valuable—but we wanted to know why.

"I met people who are truly dedicated to their work—people who always knew how to answer every question I had. At every moment of my professional practice, I had skilled and knowledgeable colleagues at my disposal, and I will always be grateful to them for the immense knowledge I gained in such a short time," said Andrija in an interview with srednja.hr.

Vedrana also highlighted the mentors who were always ready to answer all of her questions. She says she came to the internship motivated and eager to learn as much as possible, and in return, she gained confirmation that she is ready for the challenges that await her after graduation.

"Arriving at a place where the processes I had studied from various textbooks were actually taking place made everything fall into place. Theory and practice finally connected. Going through all the stages a shipment passes through, I realized that everything felt familiar—and that truly made me happy. It confirmed that I learned a lot at university and that, in a way, I am ready for the challenges that await me after completing my studies. I know there is still a lot to learn, but the first steps are already behind me," shared Vedrana about her experience.
